Madison Middle School Technology Student Association (TSA) went to Norman last week to compete at the TSA State Conference.

Advisors and STEM teachers Rachel Hough and Shannon McKinney took 6 students to the competition.

6th graders Harini Reddy, Asher Love, Mason Johnston, and Holden Hodge competed in the High School Vex V5 competition. The first timers gained a lot of experience and learned so much through the process of building their bot and at state. All four have stated that they are so excited about returning next year with a bigger and better robot.

7th grader Kylar Barnes and 8th grader Pierce Hindman competed in the Mechanical Engineering event. The students had to build a mousetrap powered car that would go 12 feet in the quickest amount of time. In addition there was an interview period as well as a portfolio portion of the competition. The boys received 8th place out of 22 entries.

Overall the MMS TSA group has been extremely active this year and averages 20-25 members per meeting.  In addition to competing in events, the club has also raised almost $300 for the American Cancer Society, planned an Earth Day service event for this Friday, and have learned many new STEM skills.

Congratulations to the MMS TSA.
