Rachel Hough, a STEM teacher at Madison Middle School, has been named a Bartlesville Public School District Teacher of the Month by Arvest Bank and Patriot Auto Group.
In recognition of this honor, Ms. Hough was given a plaque and a $300 check by Stevie Williams, Arvest Bank Marketing Manager, and Ty Kent of Patriot Auto Group.
Ms. Hough has 21 years of teaching experience and has taught STEM for five years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma State University and Master of Science in Education from Wayne State College.
Hough’s philosophy of teaching is to teach the entire child. She believes a student will not be the best they can be if their basic needs are not met. Trust, structure, consistency, and, most importantly, love, are the cornerstones of her teaching philosophy. She believes technology, STEM education, and food insecurity are current issues which have a significant impact on public education in Bartlesville.
When being a STEM teacher, it is necessary to be ever-changing and growing within the subject in order to keep up as technology changes quickly. Hough reads online magazines and blogs about technology and technology education and collaborates with other STEM teachers across the state and country to create new and interesting curriculum.
Hough has been an active member in the Bartlesville athletics scene for over 13 years in various positions, as well as a member of the Lowe Family Young Scholars Program teaching life skills and writing curriculum from 2007 to 2016. Recently, her community involvement efforts include the food pantry in her classroom office for any hungry child.
Bartlesville Public Schools is proud to join Arvest Bank and Patriot Auto Group in honoring Rachel Hough as the Bartlesville Teacher of the Month.
